“I Will Not Be Afraid” — Reflections from Throne of Glass

Some of us were dealt an unfair hand early in life.
We didn’t get the nurturing, the emotional safety, or the guidance we needed. We were raised in survival, always bracing, always navigating life alone.
The child who had to be strong before she was ready.
She didn’t feel whole. She didn’t feel chosen. But she made it. She learned to survive.
And in that survival, she became resilient, resourceful… extraordinary.
What resonated with me in Throne of Glass:
Celaena’s path --- She was known everywhere. Powerful. Confident.
But even she had moments of doubt. Even when she questioned her strength, she kept going anyway.
She kept getting back up through unbearable pain, near-death, betrayal, and isolation.
And when she had nothing left, support came. Not from where she expected, but from beyond.
A quote that stayed with me:
“Because there are people who need you to save them as much as you need to be saved.”
That line hit me because the day I read it, I felt like giving up on my purpose. It just felt so hard , always healing and growing when all I wanted was to rest. To just be.
But that quote reminded me: we are not just healing for ourselves.
We are healing for those we are meant to serve, guide, or inspire.
There is purpose in your fire.
To guide others through the dark because we know the way.
Even in near defeat, even when she thought she was alone, Celaena was always meant to win. And so are we.
Help comes in the most unexpected ways. Our ancestors watch over us. Our dreams speak to us. Support exists in both the seen and the unseen.
My reminder to you (and myself):
Don’t underestimate the power of light against darkness. You are not here by accident.
You’re not the same person anymore and that’s a good thing.
You were never meant to stay small.
You were meant to rise.
